![]() Effective and supportive supervision are critical for the delivery of quality maternity care services. Effective supervision involves joint problem-solving and on-the-job transfer of knowledge and skills between the supervisor and the one being supervised. The following tools and guidelines can assist supervisors in appraising and strengthening staff performance in relation to quality and standards in delivering maternal health services.
Routine Skilled Care Supervision: These guidelines and tools were developed for supervisors to use in routine visits to health facilities providing maternity care services. It includes an overview of the objectives of supervision and forms on preparing for a site-visit, a supervisory guide, and a guide on summarizing and planning for follow-up. English
Follow-up with Staff Trained in Life-Saving Obstetric Care or Postabortion Care: These guidelines and tools can be used to follow-up with service providers who have been trained in Life-Saving Obstetric Care and/or Postabortion Care. It includes specific tools for the two different trainings, including a supervisory questionnaire, and a summary form. English |
